LAKE FLAMING GORGE YACHT CLUB Scholarship Guidelines

Eligibility
1. Applicants must be high school seniors after the start of their senior year, or be a high school graduate within four months following completion of their senior year.
2. Students must be U.S. citizens. Students with Permanent Resident status are not eligible.
3. Students applying for a scholarship must complete an application form. The forms may be found on the Lake Flaming Gorge Yacht Club website at lfgyc.com. Applications must be submitted to Bart Forsyth, Vice Commodore, no later than Friday, July 29, 2012. Applications or any questions may be e-mailed to bartf@comcast.net. To be considered, applications must include:
a. A completed scholarship application form
b. Official high school transcript of grades
c. Two letters of recommendation from non-family members (e.g. teacher, guidance counselor, employer, athletic coach, etc.)
d. Applicant may be required to be interviewed by Scholarship Advisory Committee
4. Students must be attending or have attended Manila High School, Mountain View High School, Rock Springs High School or Green River High School.
5. Applicants must be accepted for admission as a full-time student in an accredited four-year college or university, or accredited two-year educational/vocational institution.
6. Nature of Award: $1,500 to $2,500. (The scholarship award will be made at the Commodore’s Ball on September 2, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.)
Application Review
1. Applications will be reviewed by a Scholarship Advisory Committee appointed by the Board of the Lake Flaming Gorge Yacht Club.
2. A scholarship will be awarded based on “financial need”, “scholastic ability”, and content and completeness of an application essay. Consideration will be given to statements regarding the importance of respecting, protecting, and preservation of the marine environment; especially how this may pertain to Flaming Gorge.
